Opening Sources
We had many people asking us if the sources for iGo and iChess will be open. Time to answer this question to all of you.
Currently the Apple SDK license does not allow the release of the sources. We respect that and decided to build the Go and Chess applications -technically- not linked to the GNU sources. This has some disadvantages such as the timeout error you might get when playing at a very high level in iGo.
To answer the question, yes, as soon as Apple releases the 2.0 firmware and gives us the developer license we will publish the Go and Chess applications through the Apple store for free and make the applications fully open source. If you like to join into the development you are more than welcome.
We would sincerely like to thank everybody that donated; about one third of the development costs of the iPhone community software are payed now, more than we expected; it makes us believe community software development based on donations is possible. We will take the development of the new versions through the App Store for our account and we hope understand that it takes many hours to build the applications. We still trust you donate and if you really can’t afford it, don’t worry, others might donate for you. Please do not donate less than 50 euro cents as it will just cover the paypall costs. Do not mail us for a registration code for the applications as there is no registration you donate for.

Love the game (addicted to it actually). If you have access to the full sdk functionality, then can i suggest a couple of UI changes that might be easy to understand, and easier to play?
1 finger drag to move a piece around, and you let it go to drop it (kind of like, when you play chess you keep your finger on it until you are sure, kids’ rules)
2 finger drag to move the board around and to zoom in and out by pinching, etc.
3. I’m donating, so thank you
Hi, any plans to make iShogi too (gnushogi engine)?
Just wondering what the status is of iGo on the Apple iTunes App Store. Since the store is now live, I don’t see iGo listed, and this is the app I was waiting for the most! Can’t wait to see it!
I, too, am waiting for to to be available on app store. WhY is the status of that?
HI, will GO work on new iPhine 3g?
because i can’t find any /var/root/… folder… and the sistem doesn’t alowes me to make a new folder
…i should have readed the coments first/…
Very excited that Go is coming to the iPhone. Thanks for your work!
The App Store has been live for a while now; I still don’t see iGo — is there an ETA for it?
Ok, I’ll wait the avaibility of your iGo to update my firmware to 2.0 then.
Come on Apple! Give these guys an answer! ;-)
Being new to iphone and having only installed applications via the AppStore, I am not certain how to install iChess. I couldn’t find any manual installation instructions for the app, but I could have overlooked it.
Are there install instructions for the app? If so where?
Thanks
When do you plan to upload it to apple itune store? I am sure many people are willing to pay for this because there is no go game on itune yet. Hurry!
I practically bought the iPhone just so I could play Go on it! Can a Robota spokesperson please give some indication of progress on the app? Many thanks and good luck!
The sooner iGo is available in the App Store the better: I’m forced to play othello to get my black-and-white-stone kicks, and I miss iGo!!!
Hiya,
I donated and helped test during the development of iGo. It’s now one of the last two applications that is holding me back from upgrading to 2.0 firmware. Rather than delaying for AppStore, is there any chance of getting iGo released via Cydia for 2.0 firmware?
What I’d like to see back again for firmware 2.0.x is AcceleroLog… Will we be seeing it back in the AppStore or Installer or Cydia? I liked it… :-(
Hi, I’m also looking to get iGo for firmware 2.0 (2.0.2 actually). Either thru download or the App Store.
Thanks for writing iGo!
I’ve been using iGo on my old iPhone for a long time - one of my favourite applications!
Can’t wait to see it for the 2.0 firmware on the AppStore. What’s taking Apple so long?
Closed APIs are soooo annoying and backwards!
How is it going with porting to firware 2.0.x?
Hi there,
Any progress on getting Chess & Go into the app store? Is there any way we can help — i.e., an email address to bug apple at, etc?
Really looking forward to playing them & don’t want to jailbreak my iphone :/
Thanks
Do you have estimated release date for iGo on the app store ?
Can’t wait to see it in the AppStore, too!
As soon as it appears there, I’ll donate.
I’m trying to download it on my iphone 2.1 2G, to no avail. The package shows up fine in the games category, but when I try to install it, I get the error message “URL using bad/illegal format or missing URL”.
30-09-2008
when will it be in the app store? I surely will donate or even pay for it.
How much should I donate to make you port it to 2.1 faster? ;-)
Apple is removing the NDA from the iPhone developers:

Any plans to Open Source Go, or release it in the App Store?
Thanks,

Is iGo compatible with 2.2 firmware?
I followed instructions and scp’d iGo.app and iGoSGF to the correct locations but I do not see an icon for iGo.
I tried putting iGoSGF in
/var/root/Media/iGoSGF as well as /var/mobile/Media/iGoSGF
I ensured that both iGo.app and iGoSGF both has same owner (root) and group (staff).
Please help. I would love to play go on my iPhone
Device: iPhone 2G running 2.2 firmware. Jailbroken and unlocked
